While it’s still 18 months away, Sideshow Collectibles has teamed up with Legendary Pictures to launch a “Man of Steel” Giveaway giving fans the chance to win an exclusive trip to the Premiere of the upcoming film and a US$2,500 Shopping Spree at Sideshow Collectibles headquarters.

There are two ways to enter: 1) All purchasers of the “Comic-Con Episode IV: A Fan’s Hope” Collector’s Edition book (Item No. 901442SC or Item No. 901442) will be automatically entered into this contest. Information collected during the order process will serve as your contest entry, including the e-mail address on your order. 2) Entry may also be made by mailing a 3×5 card with your full name, postal address, phone number and e-mail address to “Man of Steel” Sweepstakes, 2630 Conejo Spectrum Drive, Thousand Oaks, CA 91320. These are the only ways to enter. Limit one (1) entry per person. Only complete entries received during the Promotion Period will be accepted.

NBC Chicago reports that local firefighters and paramedics are being hired to be extras for the up-coming “Man of Steel” film.

The next “Superman” sequel, filming in the Chicago area this August and September, hosts its latest casting call from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Thursday at the Fire Museum, 5218 S. Western Ave., in Chicago.

Casting directors are hiring firefighters and paramedics as paid extras for the “Metropolis Fire Department.”

Being that today is Thursday and the report itself doesn’t specify an actual date for the latest casting call, it’s not clear whether the final casting call for extras was held today or next Thursday.
