February 27, 2011: Daniel Day-Lewis to Star in Superman Reboot?

Could Daniel Day-Lewis now be a contender for the role of General Zod in Zack Snyder’s Superman reboot?
In a new report from Moviehole, the site claims to have heard that Warner Bros. is considering Lewis for “an unspecified role in this film” which may turn out to be that of Zod.
This latest rumor comes on the heels of recent reports that Daniel Day-Lewis is being considered for the same role.

The CW has released a preview for the March 4th episode of Smallville entitled “Scion”:
TESS SURPRISES CLARK – Lionel (John Glover) and Tess (Cassidy Freeman) go head to head in a battle for the Luthor name. Clark (Tom Welling) and Lois (Erica Durance) are stunned by Tess’ latest present to them.

February 25, 2011: Viggo Mortensen Could Be New Movie Villain

HollywoodReporter.com claim that Viggo Mortensen is Zack Snyder’s top choice for the main villain role in the up-coming new Superman movie, with the role thought to be that of General Zod.

Sources say no talks have commenced and that Mortensen is just a “person of interest,” much like Kevin Costner is for the role of Jonathan Kent. The actors aren’t the only ones considered for their respective roles, though they are the ones most seriously talked about.

Snyder is in the midst of meeting actors for not only the role of Zod and Kent, but the three female parts well. Given the Nolan pedigree with the Batman films and the tenpole nature of a Superman film, the roles are considered some of the hottest and most-desired in town. 

Mortensen is currently in negotiations for Universal’s Snow White and the Huntsman, but no deal has been done as yet.

February 25, 2011: Viggo Mortensen to Play General Zod?

The Hollywood Reporter has stated in a recent article that actor Viggo Mortensen may be up for the role of General Zod in Zack Snyder’s Superman reboot.
According to the report, sources claim that Mortensen is said to be at the top of the list to play Zod who was previously portrayed by actor Terrence Stamp in “Superman II.”
The article goes on to state that while Warner Bros. has not yet had any official talks with Mortensen, he is a “person of interest” much like Kevin Costner is for the role of Jonathan Kent.

This week Jeff and Mike cover the first two Superman books with a November 1991 cover date. In SUPERMAN: THE MAN OF STEEL #5 Superman fights the Atomic Skull while the Atomic Skull has one fantastic hallucination. Then, in SUPERMAN #61, Superman and Waverider meet the mysterious Linear Men and a healthy debate on the merits of time travel ensues, at least in the story. Finally Jeff gives you the lowdown on what else was going on in rest of the world the world the month these books were released.
