For our December, 2010 contest, we have teamed with Jim Bowers of Caped Wonder.com who has graciously donated a 16″ x 24″ Superman themed canvas gallery wrap enlargement valued at $150.00.
The image on the Caped Wonder gallery wrap was created by Mr. Bowers especially for this giveaway in celebration of the 32nd anniversary of the U.S. theatrical release of Superman-The Movie. The source material includes a high-res scan of an 8×10 transparency taken directly from Bob Peak’s original movie poster art, a high-res scan of an 8×10 transparency of a unique “chrome” version of the silver “Superman-The Movie” logo (only used by the Thought Factory to produce a variety of collectible posters in 1978), and the Superman-the Movie silver ‘S’ shield updated by Warner Bros. Home Video for the 2006 “Year of Superman” DVD releases.
The CW gallery wrap is printed on a 100% cotton canvas, stretched on 1-1/12″ wood stretcher bars, and is ready for hanging straight out of the box. The word “PROOF” and the CW shield will not appear on the face of the finished product.

E! Online’s “Spoiler Chat” has some info on Clark’s journey for the remainder of the 10th and final season of “Smallville”.
- Anything about Clark’s arc in Smallville, not romance related? Thanks.
Smallville bosses Kelly Souders and Brian Peterson tell us the second half of the season will really round out Clark’s journey. Says Kelly, “We’ll see some familiar faces again, and as we’ve always said, Clark has to get closer and closer to being Superman. We’ll be seeing little hints about that throughout the rest of the season. Adds Brian, “There’s also a wink to a Clark-Lois moment in episode 12 (airing early 2011) that the fans have been screaming for!” Bring a throat lozenge. And oops, sorry, crap. That was romance-related, wasn’t it? Yipes.

While present-day Lex Luthor is busy fighting an array of the DCU’s most vile foes over in ACTION COMICS, this year’s ACTION COMICS ANNUAL takes a look back at two formative encounters Luthor had before he became the bald mad genius we know and love today.

Grant Morrison’s beloved, Eisner Award-winning vision of Superman’s heroic final days on Earth is brought to exquisite animated life in All-Star Superman, the latest entry in the popular, ongoing series of DC Universe Animated Original Movies coming February 22, 2011 from Warner Premiere, DC Entertainment and Warner Bros. Animation. The highly-anticipated, full-length film will be distributed by Warner Home Video as a Blu-Ray Combo Pack and 2-Disc Special Edition DVD for $24.98 (SRP), as well as single disc DVD for $19.98 (SRP). The film will also be available On Demand and for Download.
In All-Star Superman, the Man of Steel rescues an ill-fated mission to the Sun (sabotaged by Lex Luthor) and, in the process, is oversaturated by radiation – which accelerates his cell degeneration. Sensing even he will be unable to cheat death, Superman ventures into new realms – finally revealing his secret to Lois, confronting Lex Luthor’s perspective of humanity, and attempting to ensure Earth’s safety before his own impending end with one final, selfless act.
The celebrity-packed voice cast is headed by James Denton (Desperate Housewives) as Superman, Christina Hendricks (Mad Men) as Lois Lane, and Anthony LaPaglia (Without A Trace) as Lex Luthor. The stellar cast includes seven-time Emmy Award winner Ed Asner (Up) as Perry White, Golden Globe winner Frances Conroy (Six Feet Under) as Ma Kent, Matthew Gray Gubler (Criminal Minds) as Jimmy Olsen and Linda Cardellini (ER) as Nasty.
Arnold Vosloo (The Mummy), Catherine Cavadini (The Powerpuff Girls), Finola Hughes (General Hospital), Alexis Denisof (Angel), Obba Babatunde (That Thing You Do!), Michael Gough (Batman) and John DiMaggio (Futurama) round out the voice cast.
After reading the many ads and promotions for the Superman Snuggie, I finally broke down and purchased one from a local retailer in Myrtle Beach, SC.
First off, I realize that some would argue that a Superman Snuggie is a contradiction in terms. After all, the Man of Steel would never have Cheeto stains on his uniform or pockets for a remote control. However, this product is more of an image of Superman printed on a throw as opposed to an actual costume.
Moving on, please be aware that it is not actually a “Snuggie” but what DC Comics likes to refer to as a “Comfy Throw”. In DC’s own words it’s “a body-length blanket with sleeves made of fleece material; similar in design to a bathrobe that is worn backwards”. Yes, that is the definition of a “Snuggie” but it’s also the definition of the less popular “Slanket”…
The “Comfy Throw” measures in at the “one size fits all” dimensions of 48″ x 71″ which fits my 6′ 5″ frame perfectly.
In this day and age, do you really even need a forum to build a community? That’s the question that Jon and I tackle this week, straight from a twitter request. We each take a different side of the question, and hopefully give you something to think about with your own community building. Download – Episode 12 [...]

World’s Mightiest Animated Short is Real Steel Deal
Holy Moley but “Superman/Shazam!: The Return of Black Adam” was good. The short film released last week on DVD and Blu-Ray effectively characterized Superman, Captain Marvel, Billy Batson, Black Adam, and even the wizard Shazam and Tawky Tawny. The voice work is top notch and features the return of actor George Newbern to the voices of Clark Kent and Superman. Newbern voiced the Man of Steel and his alter ego on “Justice League”, “Justice League Unlimited”, “Static Shock”, and “The Batman”. Also in a role reprisal, actor Jerry O’Connell voices Captain Marvel just as he did on the “JLU” episode “Clash”.
The story revolves around Captain Marvel’s origin which has been told countless times since Whiz Comics #2. It also involves Cap’s first encounter with the evil predecessor to the power of Shazam, Black Adam, another often told Shazam tale. Both stories are melded together and Superman is brought in to hold the piece together with a more popular hero. Superman fans ought to be thrilled as I was to see the Man of Steel being used as the top draw DCU character to generate mainstream interest in what is essentially Captain Marvel’s story.
